The aim of this study was to develop an instrument to assess the effect of the physical classroom environment on students. Based on the literature review, interviews with teachers and analysis of existing instruments, constructs and items that contribute to the effects of the physical classrooms environment have been identified. Validity and reliability analysis have been performed on the instruments constructed. The validity of instrument was determined by eight experts in education. A total of 900 students participated in this study. The result is a newly developed instrument comprises of three main constructs namely environmental effects on health, fun and student learning. This instrument is in the form of a likert scale 1 to 5 with loading factor for each item is in the range of 0.603 to 0.816 and the reliability (alpha) was in the range of 0.886 to 0.954. The findings of this study clearly demonstrated the validity and reliability of the instrument and it can be used in assessing the effect of the physical clasrooms environment on student.
