Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability among form four academically excellent students who are excellent in their academic in solvinge non-routine algebraic problems students who involved in educational programme in Sarawak. A total of 88 fForm frFour students were randomly selected as respondent of to participate in the study. The research was a It was conducted using the survey studymethodology, employingwith a set of instrument consisting of 3 sections, which was divided into Sections A, Section B and Section C. Section A is about consists of demographic-based questions to find out respondents’ demographic background information. Section B consists of questionnaireis the concernings on about the attitude towards solving algebraic problems solving and Section C is a set of non routine problem solving algebraic problem solving test. Data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially using frequency, percentage, means, Pearson correlation and t-test. Finding showed that student’s ability in solving to solve non routine mathematical problems was moderate with mean score of 14.52. For attitude towards problem solving algebraic problems, tit shows that the highest mean was is in the confidence dimension with a mean score of (22.42), followed by willingness, (19.75 ) and the lowest mean score was the perseverance dimension, is the lowest dimension (18.944).
