Abstract

This article used the method of traditional Malay authorship concept to look into the role of traditional author and Freud psychoanalysis approach in recognising the character’s personality and characteristics in the text. Incest could be depicted by the attitudes, actions, dreams. In Hikayat Raja Pasai, incest did not occur in Hikayat Raja Pasai but was hinted through Sultan Ahmad’s attitudes and behavior literature, the author did not include incest because literary history. In this matter, although there was tendency for incest to occur, the author who was bound to the Malay authorship code of conduct used his creativity to illustrate symbolically the effects and consequences of incest. In Islam, incest is forbidden and it is considered as despicable and in Malay culture it is known as “haruan makan anak.”
