Coordination Behaviour of Palladium(II) with Isophthaldehdye-(1R)_(-)_fenchone diazine {fench=NN=C(H)}2C6H4 or Isophthaldehyde-(1R)_(+)_camphor diazine {camph=NN=C(H)}2C6H4 (63 - 74)

The isophthaldehdye-(1R)_(-)_fenchone diazine {fench=NN=C(H)}2C6H4 (5) or isophthaldehye-(1R)_(+)_camphor diazine {camph=NN=C(H)}2C6H4 (10) was prepared by condensation of isophthaldehyde with fenchone hydrazone (4) or camphor hydrazone (9) in ethanol. Treatment of (5) with Na2PdCl4.4H2O gave an orange solid palladium complex (6). Metathesis reaction of (6) with LiBr gave the bromo_palladium complex (7). Treatment of (5) with the allyl palladium complex of [{(η3_2_MeC3H4)PdCl}2] gave a pale green solid product (8) in which the palladium bonded through the two N atoms of the diazine ligand (5). Treatment of isophthaldehyde-(1R)_(+)_camphor diazine (camph=NN=C(H))2C6H4) (10) with Na2PdCl4.4H2O gave palladium complex (13) and metathesis reaction of (13) with LiBr gave the bromo_palladium complex (14).
