Abstract

This conceptual paper discusses sexuality education in Malaysia from the context of secondary school students with learning disabilities. The importance, needs, challenges and the rights of secondary school students with learning disabilities to receive sexuality education is outlined. The needs of these students are discussed from six perspectives namely human development, personal skills development, relationship building, development of appropriate sexual behavior, sexual health cultivation and socio-cultural needs. The importance of sexuality education to secondary school students with learning disabilities is also emphasized. In addition, this article also discussed the needs of sexuality education from the perspectives of teachers and parents and also from the perspective of curriculum and instruction.
