Abstract

This research is about social and academic issues among international students from Indonesia studying at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). The study was conducted according to a case study approach using instruments interviews, observations and document analysis. Triangulation data was made to ensure the validity and reliability of the data. The findings showed social issues facing by the international students from Indonesia are the issues of food and language. In terms of academic issues facing by the students from Indonesia are the language of instruction, the education system in Malaysia and discrimination in the classroom. This study is expected to give a real perspective to policy-makers either in the university or policy makers in the country of origin so that they can make a policy to suit the social and academic needs of international students at UPSI.
