《Dial A for Aunties》是一本英文喜剧小说，讲述了在美国生活的印尼华裔，小说充满了印尼华裔文化的特色。此研究探讨五个主角色的散居族裔身份对传承华文文化的影响，尤其对家庭价值观和跨文化的语言交流方面；根据Clifford（1994） 提出的的文化传承理论主要强调了文化的动态性和变异性。该理论挑战了传统上静态和本质化的文化观点，认为文化并不是一成不变的，而是通过时间、空间和不同社会群体的交互作用而不断变化和再创造的。；而根据Cavalli-Sforza（1982） 探讨了文化如何在不同世代之间传递和演变，并运用了数量分析的方法来研究这些过程。理论分析其文化传承。研究结果得出的结论是虽然她们在美国生活了一段时间了，但她们还是离不开原籍国的身份，此外，他们的身份对他们养育下一代的影响非常大。
