Abstract

The curriculum of the qiraat of Quran was the first curriculum in the development of Islamic education. It was the first knowledge taught by the Prophet Muhammad to his companions.Qiraat is associated with Talaqqi, mushāfahah and memorizing the Quran. This article discusses the curriculum employs by the Prophet Muhammad to his Companions while he was teaching Quran. It also illustrates the approaches utilized in the teaching methods, teaching materials and goals in the teaching of Qira'at by the Prophet Muhammad as well as his influence which could be traced in the present-day Qiraat. The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of curriculum in the age the Prophet Muhammad to the present-day curriculum of the qiraat. The findings of this study have demonstrated that the curriculum of the qiraat applied by the ProphetMuhammad has been adopted and has served as the core in the present day curriculum of the qiraat.
