Gamification Design for Geography Game-based Learning Geoplay

The focus of this study is to determine the appropriate design for the development of game-based learning in Geography. However, the literature reviews have indicated no sufficient evidence to support that the usage of game-based learning can improve cognitive skills. This is because the game-based learning objectives do not focus on improving students’ cognitive abilities. To ensure that the design for the game-based learning of Geography would achieve the objective of improving students’ cognitive skills, four gamification designs were carried out extensively. First is the gamification process, second is the Game Development Model (GDM), third is the Marczewski Gamification Framework (MGF) and the last one is the Gamified System Development Process (GSDP). As a result, these four gamification designs were assimilated to design the Geography-based game known as Geoplay.
