Influence of Popular Geopolitics to Political Behaviour of Young Voters in Public University in Klang Valley

Popular geopolitics refers to the material or media that can influence the minds and feelings of people to support a party whether the government, political party or parties concerned. Among the medium or source of popular geopolitics is the print media; electronic media; alternative media such as SMS, internet resources of the blog, website, youtube, tagged, facebook, twitter, skype, WeChat, Instagram, and the source from the smart phones such as Telegram and WhatsApp; film; television; magazine; caricatures/cartoons; song/music; postage stamps; and money/banknotes. In the context of this study, geopolitics popular medium selected for collecting primary (questionnaire of 300 respondents/students in public university in the UKM and UPM) and secondary data (seminar and conference papers, journal articles and academic books) related are songs, films and caricatures/cartoons while SPSS was used to analyze the findings of the questionnaire through the statistical testing of crosstab between UKM and UPM. The findings show that the medium geopolitical popular of cartoon is the most effective and still influential in determining perceptions and political preferences of respondents as attractive graphics and has a motif element that are easily understood and can influence the minds of respondents to understand a political issue. Popular geopolitics plays an important role to raise your awareness of a political conflict. Popular geopolitics can also provide an opportunity for all parties to make rational judgments on the result and impact of an issue. However popular geopolitics is effective propaganda medium in influencing perceptions and political participation. Thus, this study will attempt to relate the influence of political information conveyed through the media songs, movies and cartoons that form the popular geopolitics with the political behavior of young voters (student in public universities) in terms of participation, perception and support to political parties.
