Abstract

陈耀泉博士为槟城理科大学教育发展史博士,2005年升任为理科大学政策与国际研究中心研究员兼高级讲师,现为马来西亚华社研究中心荣誉研究员。陈博士的专长是马来西亚华人研究、华教运动、少数族群教育、双语教育、教育政策分析、教育社会学、教育隔离现象以及土生华人研究。三十余年的学术生涯,共出版专书十七本,五本是个人著作,其余是合著,以英语、马来语撰文。他退休后耕耘不辍,于2020年底出版新著《马来西亚华文教育发展》 (The Development of Chinese Education in Malaysia)。陈博士的成长经历、教育背景与学术经验,均可为中文学术界相互参照;教育社会学的专业,则可在饱和的华教运动研究,开拓华文教育研究的新面向。

Abstract

Tan Yao Sua holds a doctorate in History and Educational Development at University Sains Malaysia. In 2005, he has been promoted to a senior lecturer and research fellow at the Centre for Policy Research and International Studies, USM. He is now an honorary research fellow with the Centre for Malaysian Chinese Studies. His research experts include Malaysian Chinese studies, Chinese education movement, ethics minority education, bilingual education, educational policy analysis, sociology of education, educational segregation, and Peranakan Chinese. He has been published 17 books within 30 years of his academic career, with 5 of the books written on his own, and the other with a co-author. He is writing his papers in English and Malay medium. He has been retired recently and works hard as usual, where is a new book with the title of The Development of Chinese Education in Malaysia has published in the end of 2020. Overall, due to his different educational background and academic results, it will become the cross-reference for Chinese Academic Studies. In the meantime, his experts on the sociology of education will explore new aspects of the study of Chinese educational issues.
