What is the Relationship between the Length of the Qura’nic Verse and Its Subject? An Applied Study on “Surat Al-Baqarah"
ما العلاقة بين طول الآية وموضوعها؟" دراسة تطبيقية على سورة البقرة"
Keywords:word symmetry, verse length
This study seeks to explain the relationship between the length of the Qura’nic verse and its subject. This can be done through the application of the third level of group theory and symmetry in the Holy Qur’an, which is the symmetry of sentences or words in one verse: beginning with beginning and beginning with end. Adopting the methodology of analysis, statement, and comparison, the researchers used the word as a unit to analyze the Qura’nic texts. The study community and its sample were formed from Surat Al-Baqarah. The researchers used three lists of analysis instruments for the study. Besides, the researchers used the computer to count the words and calculate their repetitions. The study concluded that there is a direct relationship between the length of the verse and its subject. The longer the verse is, the more its subjects multiply due to the incompleteness of the meaning. And when the shorter the verse is, the fewer its subjects decrease due to the completeness of the meaning. The researchers recommend other researchers to conduct more future studies, similar to this study, on other suwars (chapters) of the Holy Quran.
