Abstract

Classroom moral atmosphere is the key factor that determines the success of moral education. The teacher plays an important role to establish the moral climate in which student assimilates and acculturates to dominant moral value. The teacher’s appearance, leadership and teaching approach will influence the socialization of students in classroom. This study aims to understand the role of teachers in constructing classroom moral atmosphere. A total of 200 trainee moral education teachers of Sultan Idris Education University were selected as respondents to this study. A survey questionnaire was developed to investigate the relationship between teaching approach and positive moral atmosphere in a classroom. The result showed that the “caring” teaching approach has most significant correlation to a positive moral atmosphere in classroom.
