An Analysis of The Renarration of Traditonal Malay LiteraryWorks in New Perspectives

Abstract

This study aims to discuss a framework idea of the narration of Malay literary works in new perspectives that could bring new meaning of the Malay world and their lives according to the worldview of the Malays today. Traditional Malay literary works show the pattern of life and thinking of the Malays of the past to suit the age they live. Changes upon changes experienced by the Malay people up to this day revealed that their life pattern and their thinking likewise changed. The texts of traditional Malay literature certainly no longer support the perceptions and intents in line with the realities of life of the current Malays. The basis of the analysis is based on textual descriptions of texts with three processes of narration,they are purification of concept, remeaning and rewriting the texst in new perspectives. Based on the literature of traditional Malay literary works, especially in the genres of drama, renarration has certainly occurred. By means of this method, texts of traditional Malay literatures with negative meanings regarding the Malays and Muslims world is renarrated in line with current views on life and current meanings in the land of the Malays and Islam itself.
