Qawa’id Fiqhiyyah Applications in Environmental Management

Abstract

The practice of management is the one element that has been practiced since the time of Adam. Early history shows that faith, morals and sharia are the elements used for determination management direction including the environmental management. The mankind as a caliph of Allah appreciates Islamic Sharia. We acknowledged the Islam as in sharia and it has various fields of knowledge with its own set of rules. Another aspect of discussion is that the special characteristics created by Allah to mankind as the manager of the environment not only involves gifted intellectual and physical to benefit the mankind also for the development of knowledge that will lead to prosperity of the universe. Hence, this article discusses the application of the rules of fiqh (Qawa’id Fiqhiyyah) in environmental management and solution of environmental problems based from these methods. It was well understood by most scholars understand and the rules of jurisprudence has been applied in the context of specific acts of worship only. Understanding of the rules of fiqhiyyah and its relevance to the environmental management will be able to contribute to environmental conservation
