Baju Kurung is a traditional dress of the community in the Malay world that was created by the Malay community for centuries according to the customs and beliefs of Islam which is very beautiful in principle. The shirt that is matched with the ‘kain ombak beralun’ is cut from a piece of fabric and then it is re assembled from several pieces of fabric that are cut in a geometric shape that creates a beautiful and unique design of a pair of traditional Malay clothes. This study uses a qualitative method in which each line that forms the Baju Kurung will be referenced, the observation of each is linked with the elements of design and art. This study will interpret the five related elements in the manufacture of Baju Kurung clothing according to the elements found in the traditional clothing pieces. The design and art elements studied are such as lines, form, shape, texture and color but it is a limited study on the use of elements on Baju Kurung only. The results of this data are used to interpret the values and functions found in the Baju Kurung.
