The level of knowledge among university students on the Criminal of human Trafficking: A Preliminary Findings in University Malaysia Sabah

The issue on smuggling of human beings is a major security threat faced by society in countries all over the world. This crime has been happening for centuries in which the concept of slavery practiced. Dignity and freedom of victims was traded without human values. This problem needs to be issued where the existing solutions must to be developed and strengthened in order to combat human trafficking holistically. A critical case of human trafficking can affect the image of the country especially in terms of safety. Therefore, the government must be committed to put a stop to it. However, the poor knowledge and understanding of the community regarding this issue has prevented the effort to eradicate this crime. Therefore, this paper will attempt to determine the level of knowledge on the issue of human trafficking crimes among academicians, specifically students in the higher education. University students are the future leaders of the present civilization legacy and have been exposed to various social issues. However, is the knowledge level on the issue of human trafficking crimes and law enforcement among students in line with their education level? This paper will explain in detail the level of knowledge of university students in UMS on the issue of trafficking of persons which will serve as a preliminary study in the campus.
