About the Journal

The Malaysian Journal of Music is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal that highlights music scholarship and related activities with a particular focus on the ASEAN region. It is a forum for music scholars who wish to share their research of musical issues. Whilst the journal is based in Malaysia, articles with a broad global focus are welcome. We invite submissions of original articles from a wide spectrum of research areas, which may include multiple areas of musicology, music education, performance, ethnography, composition, music technology, sound art, indigenous music and cultural studies.

Submission of an article to the Malaysian Journal of Music is held to imply that it represents an original contribution not previously published, and that it is not being considered elsewhere. All submissions must conform to our published guidelines. A flexibility of presentation mode may be accepted for practice-led and based research articles, notwithstanding an imperative of strong academic writing standards.

The Malaysian Journal of Music has an ongoing submission process and articles can be submitted at any time. The Call for Submissions deadline is on our website. We publish bi-annually.
