Abstract

Poor mastery of language and communication skills will affect early literacy skills, and subsequently children’s reading and writing skills in future. Thus, this article explain support activities for children's language and communication development that can be carried out by teachers. Activities that can support children's language and communication achievement, namely; (i) interaction and conversation; (ii) playing; (iii) singing and rhyming; (iv) reading books; and (v) speaking in public. This activities is done implicitly and explicitly to children by teachers either in or outside of classroom. Teachers play an important role in providing activities, atmosphere, environment, guidance and support to ensure that children can achieve their potential.
